At Thalassa Home, the Aegean is our origin and our eternal muse.
We draw endless inspiration from the sea and the culture that developed around it. In the Aegean, slow living is the natural order. Immersed in this exceptionally healthy, ancient way of life, we feel free.
The Aegean aesthetic typifies another of our passions:clean, practical design. We're avid seekers of quality and versatility, of timeless and traditional handcrafted products.
Most of all, we are travellers and sea lovers. When we travel, we pack light: we want easy-to-carry, effortlessly chic pieces from which we'll get a lot of use. When we're home, we want our living spaces to remind us of our travels and the blissfully slow Mediterranean lifestyle.
The catalyst for the creation of Thalassa Home was a simple Turkish towel. Flat-weave hamam towels are only one element of Turkey's celebrated textile heritage, but more than just a traditional craft, for us they are essential travel companions. Lightweight and compact, these ultra absorbent, quick-drying towels take up hardly any space in our carry-ons. The combination of Aegean style and practicality that distinguishes these Turkish towels is a guiding inspiration behind the expansion of our brand.
Thalassa was the name given by the ancient Aegean people to the spirit of the sea. Ages before the Greek pantheon of gods developed into human-like figures, Thalassa was the essence of the Aegean, her body the sea itself. She survives today as the Greek word for sea, and is the root of many more terms, including thalassophile: a lover of the sea.
