The sun warmed her skin as she sat on the beach in Noosa with her
friends, the scent of sunscreen drifting around them like an
invitation to forget all your worries. A DJ played nearby, sending
smooth, lazy beats across the sand, perfectly synced with the rhythm of the waves. They passed around a bottle of good wine, cold and bright, laughing as the sky melted into gold. People danced along the shoreline, silhouettes swaying in the fading light. She leaned back, toes buried in the warm sand, thinking that if time ever paused, she’d want it to be right here.

Maison Abysse was founded by Charlotte Labidi, a French designer whose path began in fashion before evolving into perfumery. After studying fashion design and working in couture houses, she spent several years on Réunion Island, where a newfound passion for diving inspired her fascination with depth, contrast, and the natural world. Returning to France with a desire for independence and creative freedom, she created Maison Abysse in 2021 as a way to blend her design sensibility with a more emotional, storytelling approach to scent. The name reflects this duality—“Maison” suggesting comfort and heritage, while “Abysse” evokes mystery and the ocean’s depths. Labidi works closely with perfumers in Grasse to craft fragrances that feel both accessible and artistic, each one designed to capture a mood, a memory, or an imaginative journey.
