Handcrafted by Paris-based ceramic artist Jessica Dardar for Thelma Paris, these Wabi-Sabi holders are made from chamotte stoneware glazed with a warm, transparent enamel that effortlessly complements any interior. Thoughtfully designed, the incense stick hole sits on the side, letting ash fall neatly into the center for easy cleanup and a serene burn every time.

Thelma Paris was born in May 2021 at the end of confinement with the ambition to offer its users a “place of their own”. During this period, I ran out of my stock made up of my travels to Asia from where I brought back incense sticks, mainly from China. I then went in search of a product from France that would be both of high quality and modern. Having not found the product I was looking for, I wanted to create it.
Thelma Paris incense sticks are produced in Japan, a country with unique and ancestral know-how in incense. The sticks are made by Japanese master craftsmen with high quality raw materials harvested with respect for the environment from which they are taken. These sticks made in Tokyo have the peculiarity of emitting little smoke and not having a bamboo rod. These are the ingredients used and in particular the bark of Tabu wood that allows resins and other bark to be agglomerated without the use of bamboo stalks. Thus the fragrances are released delicately, without producing smoke and de facto without the smell of smoke. This particularity makes it easy to consume in small spaces. Finally, without smoke, the stick fits more easily into our daily life in a modern way.
