OUMA's four botanical bars, No. 001 Grain to No. 004 Fire, are made from olive oil, babassu oil, shea and cocoa butter, cured for six weeks and hand-cut in small batches in the Netherlands; a 125 g bar is vegan, palm-free and typically lasts three to four months with daily use. Grain adds colloidal oat; Earth, red Moroccan clay with vetiver and sweet orange; Forest, green clay with pine and juniper; Fire, patchouli, ylang ylang and cinnamon. Each bar comes with an illustrated poetry card. AZUR's Lavender Fields Body Bar, 100 g, is best lathered with a natural sea sponge. If you prefer a liquid, there is BAIOBAY's coconut body wash, made in France, and for children Dublin Herbalists' Kids Hair & Body Wash in mango and coconut.
The sponge and the brush come from Croll & Denecke, the Bremen company that has refined sea sponges from the Greek Mediterranean by hand since 1897. The Natural Sea Sponge is harvested above the root so that it can grow back. The Spa Wellness Body Brush is made in Germany from water-resistant pear wood, with natural bristles and a detachable handle. Start at the soles of the feet and brush upwards in light strokes, with less pressure rather than more.
